Power Over You!

Let there be no power over you, other than the power over you! - 1 John 1:5 - "This then is the message which we have heard of Him (Jesus), and declare unto you, That God is light and in Him is no darkness at all". There is no middle ground, we are full of either darkness or light. There is no combination of both. James 3:11 - "Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet and bitter? 12 - Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? Either a vine, figs?" So no fountain yield salt water and fresh. Many justify having both because they judge their actions done, but those judgements are contrary to the Truth of Jesus. 1 John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:" The word advocate could also mean upholder. Jesus upholds our righteous standing even if we make a mistake, this is grace. We must understand this concept! Where there is no vision, the people perish. James 1:23 "For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." So if we look at ourselves and judge ourselves based on the knowledge of good and evil, we forget who we are made to be in Christ. If we look into the perfect law of liberty (righteousness through faith in Christ) we are not forgetful of Christ's work that was done in us freely, we shall be blessed in our righteous deeds! This is the vision we all need to continue in Christ. Therefore it's not what you do that determines who you are, but who you are that determines what you do, and Christ determines who you are! We must begin to understand who Jesus made us when we became children of God. See it. Know it! Only from this place of knowing can we walk in faith and do the works of faith. Be a doer of righteousness because you know that you have been made righteous in Christ!
